Description:
THIS POST IS FIXED TERM FOR 12 MONTHS WITH A POSSIBILITY OF EXTENSION SUBJECT TO FUNDING
The Grantham Research Institute is a world-leading centre for the study of the economics and social sciences of climate change and other global environmental problems, based at the London School of Economics and Political Science.
We are seeking a Policy Analyst to support its collaboration with the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action and connected to its broader work on economics and finance for climate action. This new post will play an important role a major new programme of work to support finance ministries and other economic decision-makers in improving economic analysis and modelling to drive climate action. This post will be within the Stern team on international climate action and finance at the Grantham Research Institute on Climate Change and the Environment, as part of its work with the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action and other economic decision-makers.
The post will lead or support the development of major policy-oriented research reports on ways to improve economic analysis for climate action. The post will play a role in helping to design and organise an annual Forum on the Macroeconomics of Green and Resilient Transitions in 2025 and related efforts such as the new Green Macro Modelling Initiative. The post will complement a wider range of related activities to support the role of finance ministries in driving climate action, building on the Institute’s work in coordinating the flagship guide to climate action for the Coalition of Finance Ministers for Climate Action. The post-holder will also contribute to other projects on the economics of climate action across the institute.
Candidates will have a postgraduate degree in economics, environmental economics, development economics, or a related field by the post start date, work experience on economic analysis and modelling for climate policy and a good understanding of and demonstrated experience in economic and wider analysis of climate change policies, including experience in undertaking literature reviews, applied research and policy analysis. They will have strong project management skills and ability to work with and coordinate multiple partners, have experience of writing for and engaging with policy audiences and strong analytical skills with the ability to produce high-quality policy analysis in a timely manner, including ability to analyse and research complex analytical ideas and methodologies.
