Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

The Policy Analyst will support the Housing and Infrastructure Transfer Initiative for First Nations in Manitoba. This position involves conducting research, policy analysis, and strategic development to aid decision-making. The Analyst will also draft media statements, prepare briefing notes, and work closely with the Infrastructure Policy Analyst to support the overall objectives of the Housing and Infrastructure initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive research and analysis to prepare briefing notes, reports, and other materials for internal and external audiences.
  • Draft media statements.
  • Assist in data collection and research for various Housing-related areas specific to First Nations.
  • Collaborate with the Infrastructure Policy Analyst to ensure alignment and integration of housing and infrastructure policies.
  • Research policy and governance structures related to First Nations.
  • Conduct basic data analysis and prepare summary reports.
  • Update work plans, task lists and benchmarks as directed by management.
  • Draft higher-level documents, including strategies, discussion, and position papers.
  • Maintain knowledge of Housing and Infrastructure pertinent to First Nations.
  • Adhere to office policies and procedures and confidentiality agreements.
  • Perform any other related duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications, Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or graduate degree in Social Science, Education, Communications, or related fields. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving and organization abilities.
  • Knowledge of First Nation’s policies and political issues in Housing and Infrastructure would be an asset.
  • Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Reliable, trustworthy, and dependable with a strong sense of responsibility.
  • Ability to work closely with others, independently or as a multi-disciplinary team member.
  • Ability to follow office procedures, practices, and confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office software, including Word, Excel, and
  • Adhere to AMC policies and procedures with specific attention to attendance and professional ethics.
  • Must have a valid Class 5 driver’s license and a reliable vehicle.
  • Must have a current satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Clear Child Abuse Checks.
