Description:

ABOUT YOU

We’re looking for an excellent communicator, with passion for improving children’s services to join our regional team as Policy & Improvement Officer. As our current colleague returns to a practice-focused role, we know this post can be a great fit for someone seeking to broaden their skills and experience from a current role in teaching, children’s social care or SEND services.
Drawing on at least 2 years’ experience in a children’s services or relevant local government or public sector environment, you’ll be able to write to a high standard and present confidently to a range of audiences.
You’ll love working independently, managing competing priorities and a changing workload. Building working relationships with a diverse set of stakeholders and partners will be something that you enjoy and excel at.

ABOUT US

The North West Association of Directors of Children’s Services (NWADCS) is a collaborative service working across the region’s 24 local authorities. Hosted by Stockport Council, you’ll benefit from all the advantages of working for a local authority, whilst having the opportunity to work across our large and diverse region. As a small regional team that mostly works remotely, we need to operate as a close unit, yet offer lots of flexibility to our team members to work creatively and independently.
At Stockport Council we are one ambitious team on a mission to create opportunities for everyone who lives, works and spends time in the borough. Working at Stockport Council means contributing to one of the most thriving towns in the North. We’re keen to recruit people with the right values and behaviours that can help us ensure our workplace values are at the heart of everything we do.
We are proud to be recognised under the Good Employment Charter as an organisation committed to the wellbeing of our colleagues. As members of the charter, we have been recognised as a great place to work for all colleagues and pledge to pay the real living wage, engage staff in key decisions and endorse fair and flexible working conditions.

Responsibilities:

HYBRID: PREDOMINANTLY HOME-BASED. NO SET REQUIREMENT FOR BEING PRESENT IN AN OFFICE BASE, BUT THE ROLE WILL REQUIRE SOME IN PERSON ACTIVITY ACROSS THE NORTH WEST REGION. STOPFORD HOUSE, STOCKPORT WILL ACT AS A DE FACTO OFFICE BASE.

Application Deadline: 11 November 2024, 11:59pm
Shortlisting Date: 13 November 2024
Interview Date: 25 November 2024
Interview Type: Face to face

YOUR ROLE

The Policy and Improvement Officer brings together relevant stakeholders and helps local authorities to respond to new policy developments and ensure we better commission and deliver children’s services across the region.
An integral part of the North West Association of Directors of Children’s Services (NWADCS), you’ll work with local authorities, providers and other partners to identify, evaluate and share good and emerging practice across the sector.
You will have a big part to play as we deliver an evidence-based and research-informed sector-led improvement model, creating real opportunities to improve outcomes for children across the North West.
