ABOUT THE ROLE
Improving policy coherence and integration across sectors and levels of governance is widely recognised as crucial to avoid ineffective actions and conflicting restoration outcomes, to promote landscape governance, and to ensure that national-level programmes meet the needs of local people. As governments and landscape restoration actors often struggle with limited cross-sectoral coordination, siloed agency mandates, and conflicting priorities, it is vital to examine these issues and identify solutions
You will work on developing and coordinating an (informal) collaboration under the ‘governing landscape futures’ project, which seeks to improve multi-level governance and policy coherence in holistic landscape restoration. You are part of the Policy & Impact team, which contains three team members at the moment. You will be working closely together with and report to the Head of Policy.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Coordinating with GLF contributors; managing relationships, and where opportunities exist, the recruitment of additional contributors
- Drive shared agenda with colleagues, managing regular meetings
- Develop joint event agenda
- Gathering and analysing best practices and case studies for a policy report/brief
- Test and improve template for collecting policy coherence best practices
- Protocol for best practice data collection
- Create template, identify and collect relevant case studies
- Manage collaboration with research collaborators
- Coordinate the production of a policy brief/report showcasing best practices and case studies
- Coordinate the content writing in UK English
- Associated research and analysis of content as appropriate
- Coordinate review process of draft(s)
- Liaise with comms for design/graphic content as appropriate
- Identify methods and tools for building policy coherence to contribute to capacity building
- Identify additional opportunities for GLF initiatives eg ways in which the group could support the EU policy coherence guidance and champion member state’s national plans (restoration, adaptation, droughts).
