ABOUT THIS JOB

We are recruiting a permanent Policy Officer to work in our Participation & Engagement Team. The role reports to the Participation Manager. The purpose of this role is to support the participation and engagement function and policy/strategy developments. You will co-ordinate the overall delivery of projects and initiatives, including key elements of the Corporate Strategy. The specific responsibilities of the post relate to: Leading on policy initiatives and implementation with civil society and residents; maintaining professional relationships with civil society, partner agencies locally and nationally to achieve shared outcomes for residents and communities; the project management and delivery of key participation and engagement projects and programmes; and accelerating social innovation in the borough by enabling a new collaborative environment with residents, Civil society, LBBD, external funders, partners and the private sector.
We are looking for a highly skilled candidate with an interest and knowledge of policy development. A candidate that can inspire and work with our small but dynamic team, to keep abreast of the continuous development and improvements the council strives to achieve in local service delivery.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS POST

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in policy work, with knowledge in relation to innovation in local government, civil society, communities and citizens
  • Capacity for strategic thinking, analytical insight and intellectual curiosity.
  • An understanding of the key elements of community development and enabling participation in local government.
  • Ability to deliver multistakeholder policies/ projects / programmes, to deliver clearly identified benefits.
