JOB SUMMARY:
The Polymer Engineer Co-op project will consist of developing testing and validation plans for alternative resins – new suppliers, alternative grades, recycle, etc. Upon receipt of trial material, work with production to pulverize, blend, and process material. Conduct initial material properties testing and review SDSs to determine acceptable applications for the material as well as collaborate with Safety to ensure safe application and proper PPE requirements for employees. Develop DOEs to run and submit parts to QC and Safety for testing and validation. Summarize findings and make recommendations.

- Pursuing bachelor’s degree in polymer, chemical engineering or related field
- Material science coursework is a plus
- Experience working in a manufacturing environment is a plus
- Prior Co-op/Intern Experience is a plus
Responsibilities:
- Support/Lead manufacturing floor improvement projects to enhance efficiency, safety, and productivity
- Assist in value engineering tasks to optimize product designs for cost-effectiveness and performance
- Participate in Kaizen events to identify and implement continuous improvement opportunities across operations
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze production processes and identify areas for optimization
- Utilize CAD software to design and modify equipment, fixtures, and layouts for improved manufacturing processes
- Using lean manufacturing principles, streamline workflows and reduce waste on the manufacturing floor
- Conduct time studies and process analyses to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies
- Assist in root cause analysis and problem-solving efforts to resolve manufacturing issues
- Document project progress, findings, and recommendations for management review and future reference.
