Job Summary
POPLAR, the Primary care Ontario Practice-based Learning and Research Network, is an initiative of Ontario’s six University Department/Section of Family Medicine and the Alliance for Healthier Communities (Ontario’s Community Health Centres, Nurse Practitioner-led Clinics and Aboriginal Health Access Centres). POPLAR securely collects and de-identifies electronic medical record (EMR) data across Ontario; the POPLAR Database can be used for research, epidemiology, quality improvement and health system monitoring. POPLAR supports practice-based clinical research and quality improvement processes in primary care. POPLAR works with clinicians, researchers, and policy makers, providing information on the vital work primary care does, while supporting practices in delivering optimal care across Ontario.
Reporting to the Manager of the Centre for Studies in Primary Care (CSPC) and taking direction from the POPLAR Project Manager, the POPLAR Research Coordinator has two main roles: administrative duties and tasks related to the use of POPLAR data for research. This position will work collaboratively with PIs, external partners, and researchers in the review and implementation of research activities. The POPLAR Research Coordinator must ensure that research activities remain consistent with the values and priorities of Queen’s Department of Family Medicine. The incumbent will support research projects by interacting with research teams across Ontario, ensuring ethics certification and approval have been obtained, facilitating data collection, and troubleshooting any issues that may arise.
