Description:

As Portfolio Management & Operations Manager you will be responsible for portfolio operations and the oversight of the pipeline of investment for the portfolio and the end to end Change Control process which includes in year Business Cases. You will be leading on our portfolio communications initiative, being a key point of contact between the Portfolio office and Delivery teams. You will be leading on a number of critical Portfolio Office forums and touchpoints, responsible for coordinating, documenting, ensuing meetings are valuable and fit for purpose
This role sits within the Portfolio Management Team, part of Portfolio Management and Operations, which is responsible for building and monitoring Nationwide’s portfolio of change. We manage the governance of the Society’s £500m strategic investment budget, making sure we deliver value to our customers and colleagues and that we do this in a safe, efficient and effective way.

For this job you’ll spend at least two days per week, or if part time you’ll spend 40% of your working time, based at either our Swindon, Nationwide House or London, Threadneedle Street offices. There will be the need to attend our Swindon office for collaboration on a quarterly basis, if based in London. ABOUT YOU

  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; you’ll need to be comfortable facilitating on large meetings
  • Working experience building out reports for a senior audience; you have the ability to roll up high level information into clear and concise executive reporting material
  • Proven experience of people management, including task management, continuous goal setting and frequent team check ins / 1-2-1’s
  • Ability to problem solve, manage difficult conversations and help to come to an agreed solution.
  • Excellent attention to detail and business writing skills
  • Relationship building skills; this role will interface with a variety of disciplines and areas of the business

Responsibilities:

You will work closely with Portfolio SLT to manage the future investment pipeline end to end which includes our Change Control Process and leading the Portfolio Management Investment Review forum which looks at Business Cases and milestone movements.
Lead on Portfolio Communications to our wider Delivery teams ensuring messages are cascaded, understood and documented. This will include evolving our communications strategy to ensure engagement and value is met across the portfolio.
Get involved in team improvement activities such as audits, refreshing our standards and guidance for BAU work and assisting in annual planning activities.
