Responsibilities:

ABOUT THE ROLE:

This is a fixed term contract until 30th April 2025, working in our Medical Indemnity insurance Member Solutions team, leading the execution of portfolio strategies.
This role will primarily be responsible for leading the Portfolio Management function to deliver a financially sustainable portfolio of business. To make ‘best for business’ recommendations on risk, pricing and product, based upon critical and logical evaluation of appropriate information and a thorough understanding of Avant and the Medical Defense industry. There will also be the need to address suggestions and/or solve any problems identified by members through the ideation, testing and support of the implementation of innovative products and services.

Key responsibilities are

  • Support the development and lead the execution of portfolio strategies, incorporating insights from market, competitors, and customer research, and ensuring it is appropriately reflected
  • Contribute to the setting of risk appetite for the products and portfolios within the role remit in line with the risk appetite statement and ensure adherence to the risk appetite
  • Drive continuous monitoring of trends and growth opportunities
  • Ensure core Medical Indemnity products are market leading, simplify and align (draft in Plain English) with the policy wordings.
  • Manage the process of iteration of products while lifting the level of understanding of Medical Indemnity and other insurance products and the interplay with other Avant products and services
  • Communicate to relevant stakeholders findings and recommendations arising out of the portfolio analysis and clearly articulate risk management policies and metrics;
  • Ensure that management information reports are of a quality and consistency to meet the needs of the Executive Team and Boards;
  • Assist the Head of Member Design, Product and Portfolio to develop portfolio research processes which enhance the research value-add components in business decisions

TO BE SUCCESSFUL IN THIS ROLE YOU WILL HAVE:

  • Previous demonstrated portfolio management experience gained within general insurance or banking/finance
  • Excellent stakeholder and relationship management skills
  • An open mind that ‘thinks outside the box’ throughout the design process
  • People leadership experience
  • Ability to develop business cases supporting new product concepts incorporating member perspective
  • Ability to present or report on complex matters to non-technical audiences
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both written and verbal.
