Are you a dedicated and passionate Programme/Portfolio Manager with a proven record in delivering complex projects and programmes?
Westmorland and Furness Council are looking for an ambitious and professional individual to lead a portfolio of Major/Infrastructure programmes/projects within the Resources Directorate and specifically the Capital Programme team.
This is an excellent opportunity for the right individual to provide leadership within a diverse and high-profile role requiring close working across directorates, within a Capital Programme team, wider Council officers and elected Members.
The right candidate will deliver effective leadership of a portfolio of programmes within an annual Capital Programme of approx. £70m-£80m per annum, building and maintaining relationships with key stakeholders and further enhancing the reputation of the organisation, both regionally and nationally.
We are welcoming applications from individuals with a strong track record in the development and delivery of large strategic projects and programmes with individually and combined values in the range £5m to £40m.
Candidates should be commercially focussed and capable of operating with political awareness whilst demonstrating extensive project and programme management skills.
This is a permanent opportunity reporting to the Senior Manager – Capital Programme.

‘Being part of the Capital Programme Team is a great experience, having the opportunity on a daily basis to work with some of the finest professionals I have ever had the pleasure of working with, all while being part of one of the highest performing Teams within the Authority. There is an incredible diversity of projects available providing some great experience and challenges that you simply will not find elsewhere in the industry. I can safely say that I have enjoyed this role more than any other in my 22 year career and would recommend it to anyone.’
