Post Doctoral Associate, School of Public Health, Department of Epidemiology
The Postdoctoral Associate is being recruited to join the research team in the Department of Epidemiology and contribute to several NIH-funded studies on the epidemiology of body composition and associated disorders of metabolism, physical function, and brain health. The Postdoctoral Associate is expected to take a leadership role in ongoing research projects, including developing novel and important research questions, analyzing data, and writing manuscripts. The Postdoctoral Associate should have a strong interest in the epidemiology of body composition and health and well-being of minority populations and/or older populations in the U.S. and globally.
Expectations:
- A doctoral degree in Epidemiology or another area of public health is required.
- The Postdoctoral Associate is expected to produce 3 to 4 first-authored manuscripts per year and co-author manuscripts that come out of the research group, as appropriate, as well as submit one or more abstracts to scientific meetings each year.
- The Postdoctoral Associate will attend weekly mentorship meetings and will be invited to provide input on other work coming out of the research group.
- Participation in this program requires a commitment of at least 40 hours per week on research and training.
Opportunities:
- Attend several relevant scientific meetings, such as the Annual Meetings of the Gerontological Society of America, the American Heart Association, the Caribbean Public Health Agency, or the Obesity Society.
- Presentation of results in those scientific meetings and other local scientific events, to the Epidemiology Department, and to our research team.
- Participation in career development activities through the department, school, and university.
- Development of research ideas suitable for funding, including a career development award (K01 or K99/R00), depending on the Postdoctoral Associate’s interest and goals.
