Description:

POSITION SUMMARY:

Virginia Commonwealth University, School of Medicine, Department of Anatomy & Neurobiology is offering a grant funded postdoctoral fellow to study neurotrauma and epilepsy using neurophysiological approaches, including EEG, whole cell patch clamp, optogenetics, chemogenetics and miniscope techniques. Questions to be addressed include the pathogenesis of electrophysiological dysfunction following mild brain injury and inhibitory subtype dysfunction after repeated mild brain injury that leads to seizures. This work is both clinically relevant and at the forefront of basic research in neurotrauma and posttraumatic epilepsy. Excellent facilities include sophisticated equipment and software packages. The Department provides a rich research environment with many opportunities for collaboration.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Demonstrated experience in either traumatic brain injury research or in electrophysiological techniques
  • Demonstrated experience in scientific writing and publication
  • Should hold a Ph.D., or equivalent
  • Must have a demonstrated commitment to fostering diversity and inclusion in past experiences or a commitment to do so as a post-Doctoral Fellow at VCU
