Description:
Post-doctoral fellow in organic synthesis & chemical biology
(ref. BAP-2024-557)
Laatst aangepast: 01/08/24
The Laboratory of Chemical Biology at the KU Leuven works on the development of chemical probes for covalent labeling of proteins as well as methods to study membrane-embedded enzymes. We utilize an interdisciplinary approach with techniques of organic chemistry, biochemistry, cell biology and proteomics to unravel functions of disease-relevant enzymes.
Project
The project entails a multi-institute and multidisciplinary collaboration of the Laboratory of Chemical Biology at KU Leuven with the University of Vienna, the University of Wollongong and the Center of Molecular Neurobiology at the University of Hamburg. The aim is to reveal diversity in synapses and their functional implications in neuronal disease. To this end, we will take approaches involving molecular biology, chemical probes, lipid nanodiscs, MS-based lipidomics, MALDI imaging and superresolution imaging to reveal differences in lipid composition at the post-synaptic interface. At each site, a post-doctoral fellow will work on an own project but will interact with and/or physically visit the other partners. At KU Leuven, the focus lies on development of photoaffinity labels for receptors of neurotransmitters as well as the development of laser-cleavable tags detectable by MALDI imaging.
