The Department of Oncology in the Faculty of Health Sciences is a clinical academic department comprised of over 100 full- and part-time faculty and nearly 50 staff members, who contribute to excellence in clinical care, education and research. There are three clinical divisions: Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology and Malignant Hematology. The Department has two Royal College accredited postgraduate programs in Medical and Radiation Oncology, as well as a strong Fellowship Program. The Department of Oncology is a research-intensive department with faculty who lead and collaborate on cutting-edge clinical trials, health services and translational research. Local research assets within the Department include the Ontario Clinical Oncology Group, the Cancer Care Ontario Program in Evidence Based Care, as well as the Escarpment Cancer Research Institute, which is a joint McMaster University and Hamilton Health Sciences research institute. Department offices, faculty, staff and trainees are located at the Juravinski Hospital and Cancer Centre.
JOB SUMMARY:
We are looking for a Post-doctoral Fellow to participate in a federally funded research program focused on the development of medical imaging applications and solutions based on the recent progress in AI.
The Post-doctoral Fellow will be required to apply his/her technical skills towards solving cutting-edge problems in AI for medical imaging with a goal of providing clinically relevant solutions. The Fellow will work in close collaboration with the principal investigator Dr. Saha, clinicians, and other relevant researchers.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Following are the must-haves for this position:
- A highly motivated individual with a Ph.D. degree or close to the completion of a Ph.D. with a dissertation/thesis focussed on developing deep learning-based applications/methodologies for medical image analysis.
- Extensive experience with machine learning, computer vision, and image processing.
- Proficient in computer programming and in the implementation/adaptation/deployment of AI models.
- At least two first-authored journal publications (or accepted for publication) in moderate to high impact-factored journals or good international conferences in medical imaging/deep learning/AI.
- Good verbal and written communication skills.
