Description:

Applications are invited for a 2-year postdoctoral position in the field of exoplanets and their host stars at the Department of Physics and Astronomy, Aarhus University, Denmark. The position will be open for start-dates in early 2025.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The position will focus on exoplanet host stars, exploiting data from facilities such as Kepler and TESS. The primary tasks could include:

  • Detecting (weak) asteroseismic signals in solarlike exoplanet host stars, exploiting machine learning and/or noise mitigation techniques.
  • Studying particularly interesting systems in detail.
  • Investigating star-planet interactions for planets close to their host star.

While there will also be time to pursue other lines of related research, the postdoc is expected to collaborate closely with the other members of the Astronomy group at the department.

WHO WE ARE

The astronomy group is home to several people working with exoplanets and exoplanet host stars as well as experts in stellar modelling and stellar oscillations. We have a friendly and welcoming working environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Detecting (weak) asteroseismic signals in solarlike exoplanet host stars, exploiting machine learning and/or noise mitigation techniques.
  • Studying particularly interesting systems in detail.
  • Investigating star-planet interactions for planets close to their host star
