Description:
Post-doctoral Position in Low-field NMR Developments
(ref. BAP-2024-643)
Laatst aangepast: 30/09/24
Our group is performing research on magnetic resonance methods and instruments pushing the frontiers of knowledge and technology
towards new and unexplored areas. We are inspired by real world problems from the fields of chemical engineering, bioscience engineering,
biomedicine and industry, and our aim is to develop new approaches and tools and propose solutions that help answering these questions.
We are equally involved in spectroscopy (NMR) studies, as well as in imaging (MRI) using both high-field, high-resolution methodologies,
and low-field relaxation and diffusion approaches.
KU Leuven (University of Leuven) has been a center of learning for nearly six centuries. Today, it is Belgium’s largest and highest-ranked
university and, founded in 1425, one of the oldest and most renowned universities in Europe. The university caters to over 60 000 students
from more than 140 countries. KU Leuven’s three doctoral schools provide internationally oriented PhD tracks for more than 4 000 doctoral
students. KU Leuven and affiliated knowledge institutes provide fertile ground for innovation and high-tech entrepreneurship in the Leuven
region. This favorable climate for knowledge-driven entrepreneurship and innovation makes the Leuven region an attractive location for
many high-tech companies.

Responsibilities
As a post-doctoral researcher, you will:
- Contribute to the design and use of innovative hardware on low-field NMR spectrometers.
- Conduct research that bridges the fields of magnetic resonance, materials science, and rheology.
- Work in a collaborative and interdisciplinary environment alongside leading experts.
Profile
We are looking for candidates with a strong background in:
- Low-field magnetic resonance applications, such as pulse sequence development, relaxation signal processing, or related areas.
- Magnetic resonance hardware development, including radio-frequency probes, rf-amplifiers, or other relevant technologies.
- Experience in experimental physics, engineering, or material science is highly desirable.
- Practical skills in electronics and familiarity with materials science will be considered an advantage.
Offer
We are seeking talented post-doctoral candidates to join the NMR Laboratory at KU Leuven, Belgium. This exciting project, fully funded by EOS (https://www.eosprogramme.be), focuses on advancing methodologies and instrumentation for low magnetic field NMR. You will work closely with world-class experts in chemistry, materials science, and rheology to develop novel hardware and methodologies for low-field spectrometers, with a particular emphasis on studying polymers and porous media during sorption and rheology measurements.
- Funding: Initial funding is available for at least one year, with opportunities for extension based on performance.
- Competitive Salary: Salary will be commensurate with experience.
- World-class Environment: Our NMR laboratory (http://sakellariou.org) is part of the Center for Membrane Separations, Adsorption, Catalysis, and Spectroscopy for Sustainable Solutions (CMACS)(https://www.biw.kuleuven.be/m2s/cmacs), offering a stimulating research environment. Our campus, located 20km from Brussels, is at the heart of a vibrant scientific community.
