Description:

The Oxford Institute of Applied Health Research is seeking to appoint a suitably qualified individual as a Post-Doctoral Research Assistant to work with a project team at Oxford Brookes University on a Ruth Strauss Foundation funded research project aimed at exploring the views and experiences of never smokers who have been diagnosed with lung cancer. With the team you will help to conduct and deliver this mixed methods study which consists of a systematic review, an online survey, and interviews and focus groups with never smokers who have been diagnosed with lung cancer, healthcare professionals, and other key stakeholders. The study aims to identify the informational, care and support needs of never smokers with lung cancer and to develop recommendations for best practice which place patient experience at the heart of the care pathway.
This post is part time (0.8 FTE) for a period of twelve months (Jan 2025-December 2025)
Applications are invited from individuals who have experience of qualitative and/or mixed methods health or social care research, excellent communication and time-management skills and must have completed, or be close to completing, their PhD.
You will be contributing to the implementation and day-to-day running of the project. You will be working alongside other members of the project team and project collaborators. You will be involved primarily in coordinating the qualitative interview and focus group phase of the study, recruiting participants, and collecting, analysing and evaluating data. The project is supported by national charities and partner organisations including Lung Cancer Nursing UK. You will have organisational responsibility for the project, but no direct line management responsibilities.
The ability to manage your own workload and to work as part of a team are essential.
