Description:
The laboratory of Ulf Ørom, Department of Molecular Biology, Aarhus University, Denmark, invites applications for a full-time postdoc position offering applicants an exciting opportunity to study the role of RNA modifications in gene expression. The position will initially be for two years.
JOB DESCRIPTION
You will work in a collaborative environment studying non-coding RNA and RNA modifications. We use a combination of molecular biology methods and biochemistry to study RNA modifications and their impact on transcript localization and gene expression, in combination with next-generation sequencing and RNA and protein mass spectrometry. The work builds on our published study on RNA acetylation in stress granules tiny.cc/jdiqzz and aims to extend our knowledge of how RNA acetylation affects cellular fitness.
In addition:
- You will have opportunities to collaborate with other MBG researchers on scientific topics related to the project.
- You will be encouraged to and supported in applying for external funding e.g. fellowships.
- You will receive training to develop grant writing and scientific communication skills.
- You will improve your mentoring skills through interactions with PhD/Master’s/Bachelor’s thesis students.
- You will contribute to the daily lab management, attend project meetings and departmental seminars as part of an international, dynamic team.
WHO WE ARE
The work environment is international and in a very collaborative atmosphere. We are located in a strong RNA research community at Aarhus University, where our focus is on RNA modifications. We work both with basic biology and more applied aspects of RNA in health and disease. We aim to uncover the broader aspects of RNA acetylation on mRNA and long non-coding RNA regulation.
