REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

PhD in Civil Transportation Engineering or closely related field

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Experience with Automated Traffic Signal Performance Measures (ATSPM) including installation and configuration of open-source ATSPM software.
• Experience using connected vehicle data to determine signal timing attributes.
• Experience with use of vehicle trajectory data to optimize traffic signal timing plans.
• Experience with Python, R, and SQL
• Experience with connected vehicle data sets from commercial data aggregators.
• Experience with evaluation of traffic signal timing plans.

This postdoctoral position will support research projects that involve the application of vehicle trajectory data to traffic signal operations and other transportation operations use cases. The candidate will take the day-to-day lead in performing research work to support these efforts, including both detail-oriented technical research and preparation of guidance for practitioners. The position will involve the use of various software and programming tools to develop and test methodologies for performance measurement and optimization, engagement with practitioners for information gathering and preparation of documentation and guidance, and providing guidance to graduate students working on similar research.
