Description:

    Your responsibilities
The group of Anna Kicheva at ISTA is looking for highly motivated postdoctoral candidates interested in working on tissue growth control during vertebrate development.
The Kicheva group studies how cell diversity and tissue growth are controlled by morphogen gradients in the developing vertebrate neural tube. Work in the lab is funded by core funding, ERC Consolidator and SFB grants.
Current research directions include, but are not limited to: cellular and molecular mechanisms of morphogen signaling interpretation in neural tube growth, mechanisms of restorative growth, regulation of size and function of the roof plate, a key organising center in the dorsal neural tube. We work with embryonic stem cells and organoids, as well as mouse and chick embryos, and use a diverse range of approaches, including live imaging, genomic approaches, and biophysical modelling. Our lab is embedded in a vibrant interdisciplinary and international environment ideal for professional growth.

Your Profile

  • PhD in developmental biology, cell biology, molecular neuroscience or related discipline
  • Strong motivation and interest in neurodevelopmental biology
  • Proven competitive research track record with publications in leading journals
  • Excellent command of English
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Technical experience with differentiating embryonic stem cells, live imaging, or bioinformatic analysis is a plus, but is not required
