Postdoc - Veterinary Diagnostic Pathology

REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree or equivalent

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• Evidence of interest in food animal production and diagnostic pathology
• Experience that demonstrates strong communication skills
• Prior work experience in a veterinary diagnostic lab
• At least one year of advanced training in histopathology post-DVM
• Evidence of scholarship in diagnostic pathology, including conference presentations or publications

The Veterinary Diagnostic Pathology Postdoc responsibilities include receiving advanced pathology training and becoming proficient in coordinating diagnostic case submissions in the Pathology Section of the Iowa State University Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory. After appropriate training and demonstrated proficiency, responsibilities include case coordination and communication of diagnostic test results with clients. Candidates will be expected to have open discussions regarding testing options with clients. Clinically-focused training of veterinary students in diagnostic medicine with emphasis on related implications to clinical practice is expected. The incumbent with present relevant case material, data summaries, and research findings at professional and stakeholder meetings. The iIncumbent would also be encouraged to concurrently pursue an advanced degree in a field related to veterinary diagnostic and production animal medicine.
