Description:

SUMMARY

We are seeking a motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our laboratory and investigate the TgrB1-TgrC1 allorecognition pathway in Dictyostelium discoideum. This pathway plays a critical role in cell-cell recognition during development. As a member of our team, you will explore the molecular mechanisms underlying this pathway, focusing on how TgrB1 and TgrC1 proteins interact, their roles in cell-cell adhesion, and the signaling events triggered by their recognition. Your research will contribute to our understanding of cellular communication, developmental processes, and the evolution of social behavior.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • MD or Ph.D. in Basic Science, Health Science, or a related field.
  • No experience required.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Recent Ph.D. in a related discipline, such as molecular biology, biochemistry, or cell biology.
  • Familiarity with Dictyostelium discoideum: Experience with this model organism is advantageous.
  • Proficiency in molecular genetics: A strong background in molecular genetics is required. Experience with microscopy and/or bioinformatics are an advantage.
  • Collaborative mindset: Effective communication and teamwork are crucial, as you’ll work closely with other lab members.
Baylor College of Medicine is an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action/Equal Access Employer.

Responsibilities:

  • Investigate tgrB1-tgrC1 allorecognition mechanisms.
  • Collaborates, and advances knowledge.
  • Assists in training rotation students and junior PhD students.
  • Participate in laboratory functions, including journal club and group meeting.
  • Studies molecular interactions, signal pathways, and contributes to scientific understanding.
  • Participates in preparation of abstracts and manuscripts.
  • Participates in departmental activities, including seminars and retreats.
  • Participates in Graduate School activities for postdoctoral fellows, including but not limited to RCR training (responsible conduct of research).
  • Participates in career development activities.
