Description:
SUMMARY
The postdoc will join a dynamic research team investigating neurodegenerative diseases, including Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. Participation in national and international human genomics consortia foster remarkable opportunities to leverage fruit fly genetics to enhance gene discovery and functional validation. Current areas of interest include endo-lysosomal sorting, RNA metabolism/splicing, neuronal cell adhesion, and synaptic mechanisms. The most promising genetic pathways are also being pursued in mouse genetic models, giving us the power to translate findings from flies to both mammalian experimental systems and human population genetic data.
