Description:
The department of Biomedical Informatics (BMI) at the Jacobs School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences is a nationally recognized center of excellence in Biomedical Informatics and Translational Informatics. BMI offers a Master’s and a PhD program and has recently added an undergraduate program. We also have an ACGME accredited Clinical Informatics Fellowship for physicians to become board certified. During the grandfather period, the NLM T15 fellowship can count toward board eligibility in Clinical Informatics.
This is a NIH, NLM T15 sponsored Post-doctoral fellowship in Biomedical Informatics. Its training prepares one for a career in academia or industry, performing research in the field of Biomedical Informatics. There is also potential for concurrently obtaining a Master’s Degree in Biomedical Informatics.
The Postdoctoral Associate will study and perform research in Biomedical Informatics, working on one or more of the following:
- Artificial Intelligence / Machine Learning
- Knowledge Representation and NLP methods
- Clinical Informatics
- Bioinformatics
- Biomedical Ontology
- Public Health Informatics
- Nursing Informatics
- Imaging Informatics
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- As per NIH, NLM T15 sponsored fellowship requirements, applicants must be eligible to work within the United States in a full-time capacity without visa sponsorship.
- Must have a MD, JD, DO or PhD in a field related to Biomedical Informatics, Computer Science, Statistics or Computational Biology, Computational Chemistry.
- Must have a strong interest in any of the following: NLP, Knowledge Representation, Clinical Informatics, Bioinformatics, Biomedical Ontology, Nursing Informatics, Imaging Informatics or Public Health Informatics.
- Must be interested in a career in some aspect of Biomedical Informatics.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience working with clinical systems, learning health systems, translational science or computational biology.
Responsibilities:
- Performing informatics research and conducting mentored research
- Presenting research findings to faculty, graduate students and at national conferences and other scientific meetings
- Preparing and submitting research findings for peer reviewed publication
- Assisting in preparation of proposals for grant funding
- Attending seminars, Journal Clubs, Grand Rounds, meetings and conferences
- Assisting with the teaching and training of graduate students
