Description:

SUMMARY

The Department of Neuroscience at Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) invites applications for postdoctoral fellowships starting immediately in Genetically encoded voltage indicators and other biosensors of neural activity.
The postdoctoral research will be performed in a highly interdisciplinary and collaborative environment with world-class experts and advanced technologies and facilities, which provide unique and ideal career development opportunities for postdocs. Successful candidates will be supervised by Dr. Francois St-Pierre, a recognized leader, and a pioneer in the field of genetically engendered voltage indicators development.
The goals of the St-Pierre lab are to design, characterize, and deploy protein tools to accelerate neuroscience research and broader applications with special focus on the development of genetically encoded fluorescent markers/sensors and optogenetic actuators. Recent representative publications include a Cell paper (Liu et al., Cell 2022) where the development of a new voltage indicator for recording electrical dynamics in awake behaving mice has been reported. For more information, please visit the lab website.
The successful candidate will learn how to design and execute quantitative experiments in a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment, with the highest standard of ethical, responsible, and rigorous scientific research. The trainee will participate in professional development activities and in collaborative projects and present findings at a prestigious national/international conference, to prepare for the chosen career.
