Location - This role is in-person at North Campus Edmonton.
The Hull-Meichle Lab and newly established CERC in the Islet Microenvironment program at the Alberta Diabetes Institute and Department of Cell Biology at University of Alberta is seeking highly motivated Postdoctoral Researchers to drive projects funded by CIHR, NIH and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation aimed at understanding the role of the islet microenvironment on islet endocrine cell function and diabetes development.
About us:
We use human islets, cell culture and animal models and human donor pancreas samples to understand the impact of the islet/pancreas “neighbourhood” on islet endocrine cell function and survival. Current projects include (i) investigating interactions between cells of the exocrine pancreas (duct and acinar) and islets, (ii) building the first comprehensive atlas of the pancreas in cystic fibrosis and (iii) studying the impact of islet microvascular destabilization on islet function and survival.
