Description:
POSTDOCTORAL FELLOW, HISTORY OF BRITAIN AND THE BRITISH WORLD
Primary Purpose: This position is a Post-Doctoral Fellowship funded by a generous private donation. The holder of the fellowship will be expected to engage in a program of independent, mentored, research and contribute to the academic environment in the Department of History
Nature of Work: This position requires the holder of the fellowship to engage in independent research. They will be mentored by a senior professor in the Department of History and report on their research to the Department at Departmental Research Seminars. The position includes dedicated research funds to facilitate necessary travel.
Accountabilities: The holder of the fellowship will report to the mentoring senior professor. Only travel funding is accountable, and will be handled through the financial services offered by the ASG. The fellowship holder will be engaged in independent research. Such research typically results in the production of a number of scholarly articles and/or a scholarly monograph, though in many cases publication of research results may not occur until after the period of fellowship has ended.
Education: PhD/ DPHil in History or equivalent
Licenses: -
Experience: Two years of independent mentored research, leading to publications in the field. A very large percentage of the Kent Postdoc recipients have gone on to tenure stream academic postings.
Skills: Depending on the nature of research engaged in by the fellowship holder, they may benefit from learning HGIS mapping skills or oral history interviews techniques at our HGIS Lab or Community Engaged Collaborative Research Hub.
