Description:
THE POSITION
A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available for a highly motivated and independent scientist in the laboratory of Dr. Kyle Mack in the Department of Synthetic Molecule Process Chemistry at Genentech, co-mentored by Professor Matthew Sigman in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Utah. The team utilizes state-of-the-art high-throughput experimentation, data science, and machine learning to develop and optimize novel synthetic methodologies, emphasizing catalytic transformations. Our primary goal is to access emerging functional groups that lack safe and practical syntheses and have the potential for significant drug discovery and development applications.

- You will actively engage with academic groups at the forefront of the field.
- You will publish high-quality, impactful scientific articles and regularly present your work.
- You will be part of the Genentech postdoctoral training program, which provides the opportunity to pursue fundamental scientific research in an outstanding environment.
Who You Are:
- Ph.D. in the field of organic chemistry with an emphasis in total synthesis and/or reaction methodology development
- Record of scientific innovation and success in at least one key research project throughout your graduate career as evidenced by a first-author, peer-reviewed publication
- Independent scientist with outstanding communication skills, a strong passion for basic science, and the ability to work as part of a team
- Excited about developing novel synthetic methodologies leveraging cutting-edge automation and machine-learning tools
