Description:

We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the Computing Infrastructure research group at the Department of Engineering Science (central Oxford). The post is funded by Horizon Europe (UKRI Guarantee) and is fixed-term to 31 December 2025.
You will be contributing to an Horizon Europe research project on Edge-Intelligence, with a focus on dynamic swarm networking. You will contribute to the development of hardware-accelerated in-network operations of swarm networking, and the embedding of in-network machine learning and network security for the system using programmable data planes. Your role will include the design, implementation and evaluation of different parts in the system, and the integration with other partners in the consortium.
You should possess a PhD/DPhil in Engineering, Computer Science or other related field, (with the possibility to underfill at Grade 6 (£32,332–£38,205 per annum) if candidate holds a relevant degree and is working on PhD/DPhil) together with established knowledge in computer networks and programmable network devices, significant coding experience (both P4 and Python), experience developing in-network computing solutions and a record of working in a Linux environment and related scripting languages.
