Description:
POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE
The tropical peatlands and their flora have been a focus of Kew researchers for over ten years, with a well-established professional network in the Amazon and Congo basins delivering peat distribution maps, ecology, management, and climate mitigation. This role is part of our new Global Centre for Biodiversity and Climate (GCBC) project “Using biodiversity to support climate resilient livelihoods in intact tropical peatlands”.

We are seeking a post-doctoral researcher with a PhD (or one secured by the time of appointment) in social science, environmental science, conservation, or ecology, to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in handling and analysing socio-ecological datasets, with a strong ability to lead independent scientific research. Outstanding communication skills are key, as you will be expected to write high-quality scientific publications and present research findings to diverse audiences. If you have hands-on experience in conducting social surveys, peatland ecosystems, proficiency in French and enjoy collaborating with global research partners, this is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact.
This role is based at Kew with the option of regular home working, subject to operational requirements. The role includes fieldtrips to Peru, the Republic of Congo and Democratic Republic of Congo.
Interviews are planned for late January, ideally in person but online also possible.
