About us:
Applications are invited for an enthusiastic Postdoctoral Researcher to join a SFARI Award led by Profs. Beatriz Rico and Oscar Marin. As a member of the team, the post-holder will be working in close collaboration with a multidisciplinary team of researchers in Guy’s campus.
About the role:
This project aims to investigate Parvalbumin interneuron deficits in mTORpathies associated with ASD. This project will be supervised by Prof Beatriz Rico.
Candidates should have strong experience in cortical circuits. Experience in in electrophysiology in vivo, viral injections and histology are essential.
This is a full-time post and you will be offered a fixed term contract until March 2027.
About you:
To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:
Essential criteria
1. PhD in Neuroscience/related field
2. Experience in electrophysiology in vivo (cerebral cortex)
3. Experience in stereotaxic viral infections
4. Experience in histology
5. Experience in behaviour
6. Papers published from the PhD
Desirable criteria
1. Knowledge of Deeplabcut
2. Experience in cortical interneurons (neocortex and hippocampus)

- Please note that this is a PhD level role but candidates who have submitted their thesis and are awaiting award of their PhDs will be considered. In these circumstances the appointment will be made at Grade 5, spine point 30 with the title of Research Assistant. Upon confirmation of the award of the PhD, the job title will become Research Associate and the salary will increase to Grade 6.
