ABOUT THE PROJECT

Be part of one of the most exciting and forefront developments in telecommunications! Project DART (Dynamic AI Real-Time Twin), in collaboration with a major Australian carrier, will revolutionize how large-scale networks are managed through the creation of a dynamically updating real-time digital twin of the carrier’s national telecommunications network. This project pushes the boundaries of AI and telecommunications by developing state-of-the-art solutions in real-time topology discovery, anomaly detection, and network resilience. You’ll play a pivotal role in delivering cutting-edge AI-driven network management to one of Australia’s leading telecom providers. About the role We are looking for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow with a strong background in advanced AI/ML technologies and/or telecommunications. As part of this high-impact project, you will develop and implement innovative AI models that enable the real-time digital twin to dynamically update and adapt to the complexities of a live telecommunications network. This is a unique opportunity to lead groundbreaking research in a project that is at the very forefront of industry innovation, working closely with the industry partner to shape the future of network management. In addition, you will supervise up to 5 paid graduate interns in the UTS Telecom Research Unit, helping them gain hands-on experience in cutting-edge AI applications in telecommunications, preparing them for future leadership roles in the industry. Key Selection Criteria: • PhD in Telecommunications, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.• Extensive telecommunications experience, especially in network management, real-time data systems, and digital twins.• Demonstrable advanced proficiency with deep learning models such as transformers and graph neural networks.• Demonstrable advanced proficiency with deep learning development tools, including Python, PyTorch, MLFlow, WandB and others.• Expertise in AI/ML, including graph neural networks and transformer models, with a focus on applications to telecommunications networks.• Experience working with large-scale network infrastructures and real-time data systems.• Proven track record of high-impact publications and presenting at industry forums.• Experience supervising or mentoring students or interns is highly desirable.• Australian PR or citizenship is required due to project requirements. REMUNERATIONBase Salary Range: $121,566 to $143,880 pa (Level B) This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary. This position is full-time and an appointment will be made on a fixed term basis for 3 years.
