THE POSITION

We are now opening a 3.5 - year position for
Postdoctoral | Research Scientist (W-0028 | all genders)
The successful applicant will join a team of scientists studying atmospheric and oceanic processes through the development and application of a next generation km-scale Earth-system model. The successful candidate will work on the multiscale coupling between the atmosphere and the ocean by focusing on understanding the role of oceanic mesoscale structures (sea surface temperature gradients, waves) on the triggering of atmospheric convection. The position includes conducting and analyzing simulations with the Sapphire configuration of the ICON model as well as further developing this configuration. The research is part of the Collaborative Research Center TRR 181 on energy transfers in atmosphere and ocean, regrouping universities and research institutions in northern Germany.
