Position Summary:
The Department of Physics of McGill University invites applications for a postdoctoral position to start in Fall 2024 or Winter 2025.
The successful applicant will join the research group led by Prof. Kai Wang, an Assistant Professor in the Department of Physics and research chair in quantum photonics. Research in Prof. Kai Wang’s group covers various topics in optics and photonics, including but not limited to metasurfaces/metamaterials for quantum science and technology, topological photonics, quantum imaging and sensing, and nonlinear integrated quantum photonics. More information about Prof. Kai Wang’s research and can be found at
https://kw.physics.mcgill.ca/
.

Applicants are required to have solid experimental expertise in at least one of the following aspects supported by strong publication records:

  • Design and experiments of nonlinear integrated photonics, especially silicon nitride or lithium niobate platforms for the generation of quantum states of light.
  • Micro- and nano-fabrication of photonic structures such as photonic integrated circuits and metasurfaces.
  • Continuous-variable quantum optics experiments, such as the generation and measurement of squeezed states and non-Gaussian states of light.
  • Experimental aspects of systems mediating the interaction of photons with atoms/artificial atoms on integrated photonic platforms.

The applicant also needs to send an email to Prof. Kai Wang (k.wang@mcgill.ca) with the following documents/information:

  • CV, including a list of publications.
  • Names, affiliations, and contact information of at least two references.

Applications will be reviewed and interviewed on a rolling basis. Prof. Wang will directly contact the references of shortlisted candidates to request reference letters. The position will remain open until filled. Inquiries may be sent to Prof. Wang’s email address. The contract’s initial term will be one year, renewable upon mutual agreement.
The annual salary will be at least $55,000 plus benefits and will be made commensurate with the experience.
