Description:
We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to join the Superconducting Quantum Information Device Lab (SQuID Lab) to work on experimental development of novel multi-qubit coupling elements and protected superconducting qubit encodings.
We are looking for a candidate with prior experience in superconducting qubit device development (including design and simulation), nanofabrication, cryogenic measurements, qubit measurement and control, and advanced data analysis and modeling.
The SQuID Lab is a research team within the Novo Nordisk Foundation Quantum Computing Programme (NQCP) and Center for Quantum Devices (QDev) at the Niels Bohr Institute. Our research falls broadly within two areas of superconducting quantum information physics
- Novel superconducting qubits, circuits and couplers e.g. protected qubit encodings, non-standard Josephson junction physics, developing new qubit-coupling and related activities.
- Multi-qubit superconducting systems e.g. novel control, characterization, benchmarking and calibration techniques as well as quantum error mitigation and quantum error correction.
The position will include responsibilities relevant for being part of a large data-driven culture as part of NQCP and the SQuID Lab. Moreover, the position will involve a high degree of interdisciplinarity and successful candidates are expected to work closely with multiple research and dedicated engineering teams within NQCP and at QDev.
DESCRIPTION OF THE SCIENTIFIC ENVIRONMENT:
The position will be part of SQuID Lab, a team of roughly 20 researchers from bachelor to senior researcher level. Our team is embedded jointly at the Center for Quantum Devices and the Novo Nordisk Quantum Computing Programme both located at the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen. The ambition of NQCP is to build a mission-driven full-stack approach which will involve exciting innovations at every level, from the quantum processor to the quantum-classical interface all the way quantum algorithms and applications. The vision of the programme is to enable the development of fault-tolerant quantum computing hardware and quantum algorithms that solve important problems in the life-sciences.
The position is open from 1 January 2025 or by arrangement. The duration of the postdoctoral position is two years. The position is supported by Novo Nordisk Foundation (NQCP) and European Research Council (NovADePro).
Inquiries about the position should be made to Associate Professor Morten Kjaergaard mkjaergaard@nbi.ku.dk and Research Scientist Jacob Hastrup, jacob.hastrup@nbi.ku.dk both at NQCP and QDev.
