Description:
POSITION OVERVIEW
The Computational Biology lab led by Prof Charlotte Ng (https://www.humanitas-research.com/groups/ng-group/) is seeking two highly motivated postdoctoral researchers in Computational Biology/ Artificial Intelligence (100%) to join our team of bioinformaticians and computational biologists. The laboratory aims to address questions related to the contribution of important molecular alterations and their interactions to cancer development and patient prognostication. We integrate multi-omics approaches, including single-cell and spatial omics, histopathology and in silico modeling to identify and to characterize prognostic and/ or predictive biomarkers to address outstanding questions in precision oncology.
The candidate will further our understanding of cancer biology using multi-omics profiling, computational biology and AI approaches. The candidate will have the opportunity to develop, optimize and apply cutting-edge AI methods to analyse and integrate diverse, state-of-the-art sequencing applications to define cancer-driving alterations and interactions. The candidate will have the flexibility to develop and lead their own projects within the areas of interest of the laboratory.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS WE ARE LOOKING FOR:
- experience with image analysis
- experience with biomedical data and omics data analysis, particularly high-dimension low-sample size data with a focus on feature selection
What we offer:
In Humanitas you will find a stimulating and dynamic research environment, a strong network of international collaborators and exciting opportunities for your professional growth.
You will have the autonomy and responsibility on prestigious projects, and access to state-of-the-art infrastructure and core computing and experimental facilities in a vibrant, world-class research environment.
All candidate data collected from the application shall be processed in accordance with applicable law: Dlgs 198/2006 e dei Dlgs 215/2003 e 216/2003; privacy ex artt. 13 e 14 del Reg. UE 2016/679.
Responsibilities:
- Evaluate existing AI approaches to model multiomics data from cancer tissues
- Optimize and develop generative AI approaches to enhance integration of multiomics data, including but not limited to data augmentation and synthetic data generation
- Apply cutting-edge and/or optimized AI approaches to analyse and integrate diverse, state-of-the-art multiomics data to define cancer-driving molecular alterations and biomarkers
You’re the perfect candidate if you:
- Have a PhD degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, bioinformatics, computational biology or a related discipline;
- Have a strong background in machine learning and artificial intelligence (e.g. Pandas, Numpy, scikit-learn, Pytorch)
- Have strong computational and statistical skills (e.g. unix, python, R)
- Are interested in applying AI to biomedical problems
- Have excellent communication, organizational and writing skills in English
- Be motivated and independent, while being able to interact effectively with other members of the team.
