Description:
An opportunity has arisen to join the Doctoral Academy which supports all postgraduate research students in the Faculty of Humanities (HUMS).
As part of the Doctoral Academy, we are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, well-organised, and proactive individual to support the administration of funding for postgraduate research students. The post holder will be responsible for coordinating Postgraduate Research (PGR) funding activities, managing processes to ensure the efficient administration of awards, overseeing financial management, and ensuring compliance with funding regulations. Collaborating closely with senior colleagues, the role will champion service excellence, provide support for funding applications, and take the lead on budgeting and forecasting.
The successful candidate will be customer-focused and demonstrate a range of key competencies, including exceptional attention to detail, strong problem-solving abilities, and a flexible, team-oriented approach. They should possess excellent organisational skills, with the ability to multi-task effectively, manage competing priorities under pressure, and oversee financial management with confidence. Strong numeracy, digital literacy, and up-to-date knowledge of PGR funding processes are essential. Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills are also crucial, as the role involves interacting professionally with postgraduate research students from diverse backgrounds. A commitment to the University’s strategic goals and values is vital, and experience with the University student systems would be an advantage.
As an equal opportunity employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons and all appointments will be made on merit. As we are committed to the principles of the Race Equality Charter Mark, we would particularly welcome applications from the Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) community who are currently under-represented at this level in this area.
