JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Power Distribution & Controls Engineering Leader is responsible for supporting the design, development and delivery of Power Distribution and Controls products. This is a global role, requiring engineering acumen, as well as demonstrated customer, stakeholder & team relationship-building.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, or Computer Science
- Significant demonstratable experience in a variety of engineering leadership positions
Responsibilities:
- Leads the safety culture in engineering…prioritizing employee safety and product safety
above all else
- Direct the Power Distribution & Controls engineering function and provide executive leadership to a global engineering team
- As part of the Cheltenham Senior Leadership Team, will be responsible for the site strategy execution.
- Responsible for Electric Power Engineering (EPE) UK engineering headcount planning and management of the UK engineer labour rate
- Demonstrate engineering and operational excellence
- Collaborate with the cross functional business leadership team to deliver on business-level customer and financial commitments, and to define a business strategy that achieves long term competitiveness and growth
- Drive cycle time efficiencies into development teams by challenging the “status quo” and championing new, innovative ways to develop products
- Establish a culture of engagement, inclusiveness and excellence. Inspire and connect with your team to create a shared sense of belonging and commitment to the work
- Set clear priorities and expectations consistent with business direction. Provide frequent feedback on performance and take actions as required
- Recruit, develop, and continually assess leadership and support personnel within the Power Distribution & Controls Engineering organization.
- Stay ahead of ’the curve’ regarding building a talent pipeline in anticipation of future staffing and recruiting requirements
- Develop influential relationships with assigned customers at all levels, and provide specific engineering strategies, credibility, plans and actions that differentiate GE Aerospace Electric Power from its competitors
- Consider global business-wide impact of every decision, and proactively seek cross-functional perspective
- Develop and execute global resourcing strategies to make your team market competitive
