Description:
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Power Shareholder Team Lead role is a permanent role, initially hosted within G&LCE’s transformation office, reporting to VP Special Projects & Integration.
Responsible for the efficient and effective stewardship of ongoing activities and future development of bp’s low carbon energy joint ventures (JVs). Initially the role will focus on establishing the Jera Nex bp offshore wind JV but will evolve to encompass other low carbon power generation technologies over time. The single point of accountability for creating and protecting bp value from the JV and for managing bp’s JV risk exposure.
OUTCOMES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Build a team to deliver the evolveing over time as bp’s strategy in low carbon energy evolves
Working closely with Finance & Legal, influence the JV to define a clearly documented, effective and efficient joint governance structure. Ensure the governance process is executed as defined.
Identify, evaluate and support new business opportunities within or connected to the JV (technical, operational, commercial and business development).
Ensure robust and consistent investment governance and assurance processes are applied to all investment proposals.
Support bp appointed JV Board members, proactively identifying issues related to the Board including Board materials / decision support and committees’ coordination.
Monitor, integrate and regularly communicate JV plan delivery and other performance (e.g. HSE, production, financial, operating efficiency etc) to bp business leadership.
Build and lead strong relationships to represent bp’s position, protect and build bp’s value, manage risk and share learnings.
Understand and manage bp’s legal / contractual rights and obligations in the JV agreements and other documents that define the JV’s requirements and boundaries. Verify that rights and obligations are met.
Influence JV compliance with legal requirements and HSE standards, anti-bribery & corruption, anti-money laundering, competition and international trade regulations.
Ensure JV activities are adequately supported by bp through dedicated, shared and temporary staff, leveraging appropriate skills and experience to optimise outcomes.
Provide relevant training for bp staff involved with the JV – this includes pre-deployment training, support with sponsors within bp and ongoing assistance for secondees.
Ensure team can effectively represent bp in all external interfaces.
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
You will already possess strong commercial acumen, leadership and technical skills, enabling effective influence and maintaining relationships internally and partners to drive continuous improvement and influence compliance and risk management within the JV.
Strong eye for business and commercial understanding, with experience in business and project development
Demonstrated performance management capabilities, with a deep understanding of JV structures, JV agreements and the ability to align the JV’s purpose with bp’s overall strategy. Experience in corporate governance and planning
Proven ability to influence and build strong relationships
Understanding of risk assessment and HSE exposure management
Expertise in financial planning and cost management, with a focus on optimising financial performance within the JV framework
Commitment to ethical leadership and integrity in all business dealings, ensure alignment with bp’s corporate values and standards
Understanding of / experience in the power generation sector
