Description:
Internal and External applications, including a detailed resume and outline of qualifications, will be reviewed starting on
August 21, 2024, and will continue to be accepted by the Human Resources & Safety Division until the position is filled.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general direction of a Line Supervisor and the technical direction and guidance of a Lead Hand, is responsible
for work assigned to construct, operate, and maintain overhead and underground electrical distribution systems in a safe
and efficient manner on all voltages within the utility’s service area. As part of the position, candidates must enroll in and
successfully complete the 4-year Powerline Technician Apprenticeship Program.
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Grade 12 diploma with a proven strong mechanical and mathematical aptitude.
- Must have good reading comprehension, writing skills, communication skills, and the ability to read and interpret distribution system
construction drawings and supporting documents.
- Must have good customer relations, interpersonal skills and teamwork skills with a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Valid Ontario Driver’s License with an excellent driving record. Note: A Driver’s Abstract will be processed by Synergy North to
verify that the applicant has no more than 6 demerit points.
Responsibilities:
• General Apprentice working towards a Journeyperson “Powerline Technician” position over a four to five year training period.
