ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are seeking a strategic storyteller to lead our Communications team. You will be responsible for creating and executing a corporate and external communications strategy that resonates with a wide range of audiences. A gifted wordsmith, you’ll translate Fathom’s highly technical expertise into a compelling narrative that has impact.
Working closely with a range of teams to shape the company messaging and execute a programme of tactics that raise brand awareness with target audiences. You’ll also lead on turning Fathom’s ample academic work into an integrated campaign that maintains the company’s position as industry leaders in water and climate risk intelligence.
Ideally, you’ll have excellent knowledge of the insurance, engineering or financial institutions media landscape, though a history of Tier 1 engagement is also a plus! Flooding is a highly topical issue, so prioritising inbound requests will be just as important as securing outbound coverage.
Your primary focus will be on working with the Product, Sales and Marketing teams to build and help deliver a content calendar of press releases, media interviews, podcast appearances, blogs, social media content or award submissions that raise the company’s profile.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Implement and iterate the communications strategy, spanning corporate and external communications priorities, messaging and tactics.
- Line manager to the Copywriter and secondee, while also responsible for future team growth.
- Own the external content plans/roadmap for our vertical audiences. Structure and manage campaign initiatives throughout the year, ensuring effective distribution across insurance, financial markets, and engineering verticals.
- Deliver multi-channel tactics that speak to our audience’s needs, while also aligning with our content pillars and leaning on our key corporate messaging.
- Content measurement: Analyze the impact of content and prioritize the roadmap based on content that builds our brand, drives traffic, and converts.
- Media tracking, analysis and automation to optimise campaign performance.
- Manage and build media relationships.
- Academic work promotion; liaising with scientists, journals and key media to amplify Fathom’s cutting-edge research.
- Client, industry body and partnership collaboration on editorial, thought leadership and brand awareness programs.
- Budget: Creation of the PR and comms budget including scope for external talent/agencies, awards, coverage tracking software, tools and campaigns.
