We are currently looking to fill a Full Time opportunity for a Practice Consultant, EHS with Environmental Health located in the Fraser South region.

Responsibilities:

  • Provides consultation to staff and managers on the day-to-day operation and delivery of the Environmental Health program.
  • Supports the continuous quality improvement process and procedures to collect, analyze and report on data variances and key contributors to cost, quality and consistency relevant to provision of services. Assists with monitoring and evaluation of QI processes and recommends necessary changes.
  • Participates in health protection and quality improvement projects as a project leader, facilitator and/or team member.
  • Identifies and determines staff orientation and education requirements. Develops staff orientation and training materials. Provides staff orientation and training sessions.
  • Conducts audits to monitor and evaluate applications of legislation, policies, guidelines, and procedures, and processes by field staff in the office and in the field. Prepares audit reports in identifying practice, system or process issues and recommends changes.
  • Develops and delivers student orientation. Co-ordinates student training.
  • Supports Fraser Health (FH) EHS staff and managers in progressive enforcement activities including providing consultation and recommendations on the use of relevant legislation and enforcement tools, assisting or coordinating investigations, supporting staff with writing violation tickets and preparing for court, gathering relevant information and completing court documents and applications (e.g. for orders, injunctions). Attends court as a witness as required.
  • Develops funding proposals by identifying funding sources and opportunities, initiating research processes, collecting and analyzing data, evaluation information, and preparing funding proposals. Communicates with external funding agencies to clarify/obtain information on funding criteria. Presents proposals to funding agencies for approval.
  • Maintains an inventory of and reviews departmental guidelines, policies, procedures and protocols to identify gaps in areas of accuracy, applicability and completeness. Updates documents as needed. Develops new guidelines, policies, procedures and protocols. Assists with implementing guidelines, policies, procedures and protocols, including providing education to staff.
  • Conducts research and identifies environmental health best practices. Develops implementation plans for best practices and makes recommendations to the management team.
  • Supports staff in community development and capacity building for population health work.
  • Represents FH in EHS matters by attending meetings and participating on external/internal committees. Forms and maintains effective working relationships and partnerships, and engages with federal, provincial, regional, local government and non-governmental organizations on initiatives that address environmental public health issues.
  • Maintains professional practice growth, knowledge and expertise in health protection and promotion by reviewing relevant literature, attending educational workshops and in-services, consulting and networking with other professionals.
  • As a member of the practice consultant team, and in collaboration with team members, provides input, feedback and recommendations for program enhancement.
  • Works in collaboration with the communications coordinator and other stakeholders to develop communication plans, resources and materials. Prepares communication materials.
  • Performs literature reviews and searches. Collects, analyzes and summarizes data, and prepares reports for specific projects and programs.
  • Participates in the evaluation of the department’s information system.
  • Perform other related duties as required
