HE ANGITŪTANGA: THE OPPORTUNITY

Auckland Council’s Technology Services team is on the lookout for an exceptional Practice Manager to lead our Infrastructure practice team. This is your chance to drive innovation, enhance our engineering capability, and make a significant impact on the communities we serve in Tāmaki Makaurau.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT or related experience or field.
  • Proven experience as a Practice Manager or similar leadership role (5+ years) and can manage teams of greater than 30 people.
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure design principles, including data centers, cloud computing (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), networking, and virtualization.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to lead and inspire a team to achieve high performance.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership: Oversee and manage a team of infrastructure engineering - providing guidance, coaching, mentorship, and support.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure high standards of work within the Practice and adherence to best practices.
  • Process Improvement: Implement and optimise product management processes, methodologies, and frameworks.
  • Talent Development: Recruit, hire, and develop software engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.
  • Performance Management: Set performance expectations, provide feedback, and conduct performance reviews for team members.
  • Knowledge sharing: Facilitate knowledge sharing sessions and encourage continuous learning across the Practice.
  • Stakeholder Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Practice Strategy: Establishes and maintains a practice strategy that balances the businesses current and future needs of the practice with the sourcing and talent management approach.
