Description:

Job Title: Practice Nurse Location: West Barnes Surgery Hours: 9.5 hours per week across (Tuesday and Friday) Salary: £25 per hour (negotiable dependant upon experience) Job Summary: To work as part of the primary healthcare team, providing medical services to the practices patients; including treatment, preventive care, screening and patient education. The Practice is prepared to offer support if an applicant lacks an experience in certain areas. However, as a medium size practice, there may be days when you will be the only nurse on the premises. It is important that you have confidence to take the initiatives as well as work as a member of the small but strong team.
Job responsibilities: Assist in and perform routine tasks related to patient care in negotiation with other members of the nursing team and as directed by GPs. General: Work with other members of the nursing and healthcare team to organise and provide nursing services for the practice population Provide nursing treatments to patients in participation with General Practitioners (GPs) or independently, following agreed protocols Provide general and specific health screenings to the practice patients (within agreed protocols) with referral to GPs as necessary Advise patients on general healthcare and minor ailments with referral to GPs as necessary Essential duties: Cytology and sexual health screening Wound care Sexual health Diabetes Management Removal of sutures Zoladex Contraception Routine immunisations/childhood immunisations Non essential duties: Travel health COPD Asthma Spirometry FeNO Student/staff education and training Participate in the education and training of students of all disciplines and other members of the nursing and healthcare assistant team. Liaison Maintain effective liaison with other agencies and staff concerned with patient care and with all other disciplines within the practice, with appropriate regard to confidentiality Only those candidates who are able to demonstrate competence for the essential duties highlighted will be considered
