Description:

As a Pre-Assessment Nurse you will be flexible, motivated, an excellent communicator and team worker. Ensure patients who require surgery are supported, well informed in relation to planned surgery, pre and post operative care and that their pathway is as effective as possible The post holder will be responsible for undertaking a full fitness for surgery health assessment, planning individual patient care in relation to elective surgery and anaesthetic, working within guidelines agreed locally and liaising with the multidisciplinary team. The individual must be a Registered Nurse with current NMC registration and a clinical patient assessment qualification and will need to have excellent communication skills. The candidate must be able to work as part of a well establish team and also make decisions alone.
Actively integrates theory & practice Delivering evidence based individualised and personalised care through holistic needs assessment, planning and evaluation of care and all care interventions Provide and receive complex, sensitive or contentious information Acknowledge the risk of Healthcare Associated Infections (HCAI) and understand own responsibility as agreed with line manager in the prevention and control of HCAI. Promote patients rights and wishes during the assessment, gain consent Identify people health needs through observations discussion and the use of technical assessment methods Collect, collate and organise data interpret all of the information and make a justifiable assessment, make this available to relevant others Develop own knowledge and skills and contribute to the development of others Agree with others how services need to develop, provide the appropriate support as service changes Promote peoples equality, diversity and rights Act as an exemplar for the rights of others, actively promote equality, diversity, rights and responsibilities Treat everyone with respect and without discrimination, advocate on behalf of those whose rights have been compromise
