ASIA PACIFIC SMART SCHOOL

We are currently seeking to hire a Pre-Primary 1 Teacher with experience of working in a national school for commencement September 2024. Reporting to: Deputy Principal, APSS Primary.
Purpose of Role
To provide Amazing Learning opportunities so that students continually get better through the delivery of high-quality teaching and the creation of effective resources.

Responsibilities:

General

  • Follow the policies and practices which reflect the school’s commitment to high achievement, Amazing Learning and effective feedback
  • Establish a clear understanding of the importance and role of a teacher in contributing to students’ spiritual, moral, cultural, mental and physical development, and in preparing students for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences of the modern world
  • Use data effectively to identify students who are underachieving in the subject and, where necessary, create and implement effective plans of action to support those students
  • Work effectively as a Homeroom Teacher who will be a point of reference for students’ well-being in the assigned homeroom
  • Contribute to co-curricular activities, school events and other events organised for and by students
  • Model expected behaviour to establish and maintain an orderly, disciplined classroom.

Curriculum

  • To instruct students in subject-specific classrooms and create lesson plans; evaluate student performances; by using lectures, technology and hands-on learning experiences.
  • Ensure curriculum coverage, continuity and progression in the subject for all students, including those of high ability and those with special educational or linguistic needs
  • Ensure effective development of students’ literacy and essential skills like ICT, communication and collaboration through the subject
  • Set high expectations for students in relation to progress and achievement
  • Ensure effective development of students’ individual and collaborative study skills necessary for them to become increasingly independent in their work and to complete tasks independently when out of school
  • Establish a partnership with parents and carers to involve them in their child’s learning of the subject, as well as providing information about curriculum, attainment, progress and targets

Communication, marketing and PR

  • Ensure professional and effective communication and consultation, as appropriate, between colleagues, parents and students at Asia Pacific Smart School (APSS)
  • Publicise and celebrate achievements
  • Assist with the organisation of open days (physical or virtual), consultation events and other school events.
  • Contribute to marketing activities for Asia Pacific Smart School (APSS)
