ABOUT US

Early Minds Preschool offers a structured play base curriculum. At this age we want to show the children that learning is fun. Children in our program will enjoy singing, dancing, reading, and educational activities (letter & number recognition, developing cursive skills, math, science, etc). We want to prepare children as best we can for Kindergarten. Through language, literacy, problem solving, cognition, following teacher instructions, sharing and social & emotional development, children will be well prepared for elementary school.
Early Minds Preschool located in Mahogany is seeking a highly experienced preschool teacher to cover a maternity leave (September - June). For the right candidate this could lead into a Full time position within the company
You will be responsible for leading the full preschool program that we have outlined in our program plan.
This position would require someone that is able to work Full time during the school year.

REQUIREMENTS

  • High School Diploma
  • Current Alberta driver’s license
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-Level C certification (can be obtained upon hire within a designated time frame)
  • Police Clearance and Vulnerable Sector check, and ability to pass Child Welfare Intervention check. All must be current within the last 6 months.
  • Proficiency in the English language, both written and verbal
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work effectively with children, families and staff

Responsibilities:

  • Preschool Teacher Job Description:
  • Plan both long and short-range activities in accordance with curriculum objectives, developmentally appropriate practice and program philosophy
  • Participate in a positive, warm environment in which the children feel free to express themselves and choose activities appropriate to their age and personal preferences
  • Meet the emotional, social, physical and cognitive needs of each child
  • Encourage assistants to contribute to curriculum planning
  • Coordinate out of school care activities
  • Daily communication with parents in a professional and respectful manner
  • Prepare monthly plan charts, newsletter and calendars
  • Complete quarterly assessment of children’s development
  • Record and maintain all incident reports
  • Maintain records, documents and confidentiality
  • Adhere to Early Minds Policy on Discipline
  • Arrange a classroom environment in accordance to program goal and philosophy
  • Tidy, clean and maintain program premises
  • Ensure all students and program files are maintained and up to date
  • Be familiar with emergency procedures
  • Ensure children are supervised at all times
  • Establish routines and provide positive guidance
  • Maintain a safe and healthy environment in accordance to the Alberta’s Health and Safety Guide Lines
  • Supervise assistants, aides and volunteers in the classroom
  • Meet all applicable licensing regulations as per Alberta’s Child Care Licensing Regulations
