General practice experience and knowledge of SystmOne would be an advantage.

Victoria Surgery is a well-established and friendly practice in the centre of Bury St Edmunds, caring for a patient population of approximately 11,000.
Our practice team consists of 9 list holding GPs and a dedicated clinical, management, administration and dispensary team, who recognise the importance of a good work-life balance.
We are part of the Bury St Edmunds Primary Care Network and the successful candidate will work alongside a team including paramedics, social prescriber, health and wellbeing coach, care coordinators and a pharmacy technician.

Responsibilities:

Victoria Surgery has an opportunity for a prescription clerk to join our busy prescribing team, on a part-time basis for 16-20 hours per week over 4 or 5 days.

The main responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring that requests for repeat prescriptions are actioned within 72 hours. This includes checking email requests and involves a rota system to cover the collection and drop off of all prescriptions from each site.
  • Responding to all queries and requests from chemists, nursing homes and district nurses, regarding the issue of prescriptions.
  • Keeping repeat prescription information up-to-date in the patient journal, such as letters and doctors’ requests.
  • Sending out review letters.
  • Liaising and discussing any queries raised by the clinical team in terms of medicine management.
  • Keeping up-to-date with all prescribing guidelines and protocols.
  • General ad hoc administration work.

Flexibility to cover other areas is also required.
