Description:
Summary:
The President & CEO is responsible for managing a large multi-program health and human services agency under the auspices of the Archdiocese of New Orleans.
Organizational Relationships:
The President & CEO reports to the Board of Directors in consultation with the Archbishop of New Orleans.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- The position requires an in-depth knowledge of nonprofit health and human service providers. It also requires that ability to analyze, monitor, and control a budget in excess of $50,000,000.
- The President & CEO should have the organizational and managerial skills to oversee the collaborative working relationship of 29 diverse programs and 450 staff members.
- She/he must have advanced leadership skills that motivate Board members, volunteers, and staff to maximize their potential.
- She/he should have the ability to effectively communicate with staff, volunteers, the leadership of the Archdiocese, funding sources, and local, state, and national partner organizations.
- The President & CEO must have the ability to effectively negotiate funding and service contracts with an array of funding entities.
Minimum Qualifications:
- The President & CEO must be a practicing Catholic with an understanding of and an appreciation for the leadership structure of the Roman Catholic Church.
- A college degree is required, and a master’s degree is strongly preferred.
- The President & CEO must have a minimum of ten years of senior management experience in a health and human services agency with direct responsibility for managing annual budgets in excess of $5 million.
- The President & CEO must have experience in fundraising and a proven record of success in securing major gifts and negotiating contracts and grants.
Essential Functions:
- Manages the policies of the corporation consistent with the articles and bylaws of Catholic Charities and the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
- Ensures the Catholic identity of the agency as directed by the Archbishop of New Orleans and the Catholic Charities Board.
- Implements the strategic plan of the agency along with the Leadership Team and provides progress reports on a regular basis to the Board and the Archbishop.
- Collaborates effectively with all ministries of the Archdiocese of New Orleans.
- Promotes social justice and respect for human persons on local, state, and national levels.
- Works with the Catholic Charities Board members in meaningful planning and decision making related to the overall operation of the agency.
- Works with the Catholic Charities Board and the Leadership Team to organize, develop, coordinate, and manage the agency’s health and human service ministries.
- Executes contracts, leases and working agreements with government agencies, funding sources, business, etc. as authorized by the Board and the Archbishop.
- Directs, controls, monitors, and evaluates the financial performance and position of the agency.
- Directs and manages centralized support services to agency ministries and affiliates - Finance, Planning and Evaluation, Development, and Communications and Administration - to ensure the effectiveness of agency ministries in carrying out the mission of Catholic Charities.
- Directs and manages the Catholic Charities Leadership Team.
- Ensures compliance with systems of accountability within the total agency.
