Job Title: Pricing Analyst
Location: City of London
Position Type: Permanent, 35 hours per week
Hybrid: 3 days in the office, 2 days working from home

Job Purpose:
We have a great opportunity for a talented individual to join a small innovative team and make an impact directly on the business. You will deliver pricing support and management information to underwriting teams. You will work across multiple lines of business with top quality underwriters and management. Throughout your role you will be encouraged to take initiative and see the value of implementing new ideas and projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Technical pricing models – develop existing models and deliver new models as required. Improve information available to underwriters at time of writing, enhance data capture for future reporting and analysis, and integrate models into seamless underwriting process where possible and beneficial.
  • Case pricing – support underwriters’ analysis of individual risks where required. Key lines A&H, Energy (inc Renewables), Marine and Property, but with ad hoc requests from across the business.
  • Carry out analysis to support annual budgeting process and investigations into potential new lines of business.
  • Assist the actuarial team with the annual review of ECM parameters relating to modelling of underwriting risk and large losses.
  • Assist with Actuarial Function Reports, Lloyd’s Minimum Standards compliance and other Lloyd’s or PRA pricing related request as required.
  • Liaise with Finance, BI/IT, Catastrophe Exposure Management, Reinsurance and Compliance teams and assist with ad hoc projects as required.
  • Production and development of management information (MI) to assist all aspects of underwriting performance management. Improve variety of reporting, from individual account information to portfolio KPIs and Lloyd’s reporting requirements.
  • Assist with technical analysis to support outward reinsurance purchase.

Performance Objectives:

  • Add value by successfully integrating with underwriting teams.
  • Contribute to improving underwriting performance, through improved technical/modelling input into underwriting decisions, more efficient processes and better reporting.

Skills and Experience Specification:

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, STEM, or a related field or the equivalent education and/or experience.
  • Workplace Insurance or Actuarial experience
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Superior analytical and organizational skills; demonstrated ability to manage multiple complex tasks.
  • Expert user of Microsoft Office software (excel, word, outlook, powerpoint)

Desirable:

  • Some progress through actuarial exams.
  • Actuarial pricing (or technical underwriting) experience and familiarity with London Market insurance practices and TMHCC lines of business.
  • Programming aptitude / experience – e.g. VBA, SQL, Python, R
